Accessibility Teachers’ Coffee Hour
Hosted by Teach Access and the University of Southampton
Thursday, May 20 from 10:30 am – 11:30 am (ET), or 3:30 pm – 4:30pm (BST)
Celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day with colleagues from across time-zones at our international Accessibility Teachers’ Coffee Hour. Here, we will get together as educators, faculty and teachers of digital accessibility to talk about our unique field in a context of collaboration and mutual support. Themed breakout groups will focus on: the challenges of teaching accessibility; our values and approaches; strategies for student engagement; and teaching and learning tasks and activities. Bring yourself, your ideas and coffee to:
- Share and gain perspectives on teaching accessibility
- Build your network
- Help develop the field of accessibility education
Breakout rooms will be captioned and notes will be made available for participants after the event. We hope the event will initiate the development of a Manifesto for Accessibility Education to spur thinking and the development of accessibility education in our community, something educators in a range of digital professions can use to create engaging and high-quality learning experiences in the accessibility classroom.
This is an English language event. CART captioning will be provided. American Sign Language/British Sign Language available upon request.
